Bob Hudson was a mainstream lecturer in higher education for 25 years. His specialist area was teaching social policy to professionals and managers in health and social care, especially on the Diploma in Social Work, Diploma in Health Visiting and Health Management courses. He has also developed and led the Community Care module on the MA (Sociology and Social Policy) at the University of Durham, the Care-in-the-Community Elective and Managing Across Boundaries electives on the MBA, also at the University of Durham. He has contributed towards post-graduate teaching, assessment and dissertation supervision within the Nuffield Institute. From 1978 until 2002, he taught social science and welfare modules for the Open University. In addition to this, BHC has undertaken training of an applied nature with local and national agencies. This includes implementation issues relating to new or pending legislation, Green Papers and White Papers relating to public sector change. Recent work includes transition issues in learning disability and responding to the Green Paper, Every Child Matters. Bob is taking the lead on developing the national Action Learning Sets on children’s services, commissioned by the Integrated Care Network.
