The prime purpose of BHC is to assist those agencies and professionals who are seeking to work in a more coordinated manner. There is now a clear expectation across all parts of the public and independent sectors that services and activities need to be ‘joined up’. It is no longer acceptable that service users should fit into the administrative boundaries of different bureaucracies or the specific procedures of separate professionals. The task now is to make sure that services and support from a range of quarters is designed to fit the complex needs of the individuals who use services and need help. BHC exists to support those who are making this transition from fragmentation to integration. The main current product in use is the well-established Partnership Assessment Tool, but other products are also in development.
